Paste a YouTube link into a chat and the assistant often works from the title and its memory. Connect CleanScript once, and it reads the real transcript instead. Every quote it gives you comes with its time, so you can check it.
You don't need code or an API key. You sign in to CleanScript when you connect.
Connect it once #
The connector address:
https://api.cleanscript.ai/mcpClaude (web and desktop): open Settings, then Connectors, add a custom connector with that address, and sign in to CleanScript when asked.
ChatGPT: turn on developer mode, add a connector with that address, and sign in.
The connect page has the steps for Claude, ChatGPT, Claude Code, Cursor and Codex.
New accounts start with 100 free credits, no card. The connector uses the same credits as the API.
What to ask #
Start with a free check:
Check my CleanScript account.
Then paste a link:
Summarize https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UF8uR6Z6KLc and give me the three best quotes with timestamps.

The assistant picks from four tools:
| Tool | What it does | Credits |
|---|---|---|
get_transcript |
The transcript as paragraphs, each with its [m:ss] time (a link on YouTube). Long videos come in parts. |
1 per started 10 minutes |
extract |
Answers a question, or fills a preset or schema, with the quotes behind each value. | 3 credits per started 10 minutes |
list_posts |
A creator's recent posts, with links to pass to the other two. | 1 per call |
check_account |
Your credits and requests-per-minute limit. | Free |
A post without captions costs 1 credit per started minute for its transcript (plus 2 per started 10 minutes for fields), because we transcribe its audio. Calling get_transcript or extract again within 6 hours is free (list_posts: within 10 minutes), and a failed call is never charged.
Check what it tells you #
Each paragraph and quote has its time. When the assistant says the speaker said something, ask for the exact words and the time, and open the moment before you repeat it.
If something goes wrong #
- It can't open the post. The post may be private, removed or age-restricted. Try another link.
- Not enough credits. Buy a pack on the pricing page.
- It doesn't use CleanScript. Name it: "Use CleanScript to get this transcript."
- A very long video. It comes in parts. Ask for a stretch, such as "the part from 40 to 60 minutes".
Prefer code? #
The same transcripts and fields come from the API: YouTube transcript API.
